The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a wonderful trek of staggering beauty and diversity. The moderate climb will take you through exquisite villages, across lush green rice paddies and tree laden hill sides, until finally giving way to formidable rock formations and towering peaks, seemingly frozen in space and time.
We start our journey in the sleepy village of Phedi, a short drive about 45 minutes from Pokhara, the renowned City of Lakes, worthy of its wide acclaim as the countrys most loved tourist town by its Nepali visitors and foreigners alike You will be greeted warmly by the local Gurung, Magar, and Thakali people as we pass through their villages, and you may even be invited to share in their custom of drinking the traditional, thinned milk called moyai. The hike continues, through dense rhododendron forest with mighty silver grey peaks rearing their heads in the distance. As you ascend to Base Camp at 4130m, sublime views will await you with the mighty Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail in English) soaring overhead, surely one of the most magnificent and captivating mountains in the world.
The route grows ever lovelier, snaking its way back though hillocks and idyllic mountain passes. On reaching Ghorepani, we will be treated to early morning sunrise that will take your breath away. Displaying its psychedelic halos amid a glistening mountain panorama, the scene incites an unparalleled sense of wonder in the miracles of all creation. You may count your blessings by whispering to yourself, what a wonderful world we live in and thank God for this beautiful spectacle that you stand witness to.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is even more astounding in spring as the whole forest trail is lit up with red, pink and white rhododendron flowers. The colors and hues that abound during this time, and in the autumn too, are unsurpassed. You will not find a trip of better value, compared to others of its kind, and we would even go so far as to say that the experience can be simply priceless.

1.Is previous hiking/trekking experience required?
As long as you have a moderate level of fitness and are in good physical condition, you do not require any hiking experience for short treks, cultural tours or volunteering. However, if you are planning a trek longer than one week, we recommend adopting some form of regular exercise such as running, swimming or hiking this will help you to enjoy your trip, reduce the risk of injury and enhance your overall experience. We are happy to discuss any questions you might have and to tailor a preparatory fitness programme to suit your individual needs.
2.What equipment should I bring?
This will vary depending on what activities you want to participate in and what level of comfort you prefer. With the exception of some medicines and technical gear, you can find everything you need in Nepal (which is likely to be cheaper than in your home country). There are numerous trekking shops in Thamel, Kathmandu, where you can easily buy or rent everything from sleeping bags and down jackets, to water bottles and flash lights.
Please refer to the equipment list on each individual trekking page, for a specific list of what to bring.
