Upper Dolpo Trek

Upper Dolpo is a high altitude region in the Dolpo district of western Nepal, situated between The Tibetan plateau and the Dhaulagiri Himalayan range on the Border of Tibet. The Dolpo region hosts an abundance of exotic wildlife including The Himalayan Blue Sheep, Musk deer and the Legendary Snow leopard. Up until not long ago, Dolpo was a highly restricted area, largely unchanged for over 1,000 years, making it one of the more remote and less travelled areas of the nation. This remote region, full of natural wonders has preserved its Tibetan culture and religion in a very pure untouched form, which makes it alluring and enticing for trekkers and adventure seekers from all around the world.

Trekking in the mysterious Upper Dolpo region is an extremely unique and a once in a lifetime experience which will take you back in time. During the trek, you will experience rich, untainted Tibetanculture and natural Himalayan beauty in its purest form away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. The rugged trekking route navigates through three high and exhilarating passes of the upper Dolpo region, where you will become familiar with the fascinating warm hearted Tibetan people, mainly traders, exchanging barley for the famous Tibetan rock salt. You will also experience amazing panoramic views of majestic mountain ranges, pristine forests, spectacular Buddhist Monasteries, the large Shey Phoksundo and exotic wildflowers and other unique vegetation.

Staring from Jhupal village, the spectacular adventure begins, passingthrough the quaint and traditional villages of Dunai (2,150m), Ankhe (2,660m) and Sulighat (3,500m). Navigating amongst gigantic mountain ranges, though forests of pine, oak and rhododendron .we finally reach the staggeringly beautiful, deep blue waters of Phoksumdo Lake (3,104m). At this spectacular destination, we take a day to rest and acclimatize, where you can revel in the views of the surrounding snow peaks of The Kanjirowa Himalayan range, and visit the nearby isolate village of Ringmo an its imperial Buddhist monastery. The journey climbs on to PhoksundoKhola (3,510m), PhoksondoBhanjyang, (4,405m) and on to the majestic Crystal Mountain of SheyGomba (4,500m) via the Kang La Passes (5,360m). After a day of rest an exploration, we continue the trek through more remote and high altitude villages, exploring further and reaching a peak heights before heading back down to Jomsom (2,720m) for the short, but scenic flight back to Pokhara.
